(also known as the Prince of Stones or the Knight of Pentacles)

 The Son of Stones, also known as the Prince of Stones. Or, the Knight of Pentacles in more traditional Tarot Decks; carries the meaning of servitude and responsibility. Responsibility for the Earth, the environment and especially, ones family/tribe/people. Taking care of the land and her people so that his children, their children and children thereafter, have clean air to breathe and a bountiful place to live for generations to come. He takes it upon himself to do whatever is necessary to assure there will be a good place and life to live for those he cares for.

 The Son of Stones is a person who works with his hands and with things concerning the land, finances, plants, animals, building and or construction, utilities, and who is of service to his family and community. He takes his work and responsibilities seriously because others are relying on him. He is a laborer who doesn’t shirk his duties and whom will keep at a task until it’s done. No matter how long it takes. He doesn’t cut corners or do shoddy work because others lives depend upon him. Whether human, plant, animal or the planet itself, they can count on him to do whatever it takes to assure there well-being and longevity.

 Others may think he is too serious or that he is predictable and boring, but this is because he takes it upon himself to make sure the work gets done. He IS practical, responsible and hard working. But he is also kind, considerate and generous with his time, energy and affection. He loves animals and children and will give you the shirt off his back if he thinks you need it. And once his work is done, his time is all yours. He is a trustworthy, committed and passionate lover. He is someone whom you and others can always count on to be there for you if you need a helping hand. Even if he seems ‘a little rough around the edges’,  have no doubt… he is a gentle man who will always have your back. 

As a physical description, he will usually be a young man in his 30’s to mid 40’s. Dark hair, eyes and frequently darker skin tones. Although he is usually a man, it can also describe a woman who exhibits the character traits of the Son of Stones. You could encounter or have interactions with someone matching the Son of Stone’s physical or character traits this week.  Zodiac signs associated with the Son of Stones are Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. Jesus was in his 30’s, a Capricorn, a builder, responsible for the lives of all people of the world and gave his all for those he loved… Us!!! Jesus was a great example of a Son of Stones. Chief Seattle of the Suquamish and Duwamish Indian tribes of the coastal Northwest U. S. state of Washington and whom the city of Seattle is named after, is another great example of a Son of Stones. He felt a deep responsibility towards peace and, not only his people, but the preservation of the land itself and to insure his people, for generations to come, would have peace and a clean and sustainable place to live. A Son of Stones type will always be more concerned about the welfare of the land and its creatures, as well as for others, than for his own welfare. Count yourself lucky to be in his presence and at your service because you can trust this person and be assured that you are in good hands.

Card #1: THE SITUATION: 9 of Water: With the 9 of Waters as the situation this week, it is assuring you that something you have wished for will be manifesting itself in your life very soon. You may find you will be very satisfied with how something turns out or that you finally have come to a stage in your life where you are no longer living paycheck to paycheck or where you ‘have enough’ with more where that came from and you are set for the future in an area in your life. But even though you find you are very satisfied with what you will accomplish, don’t become complacent and lazy. That attitude can literally mean you will become ‘fat and happy’, but not healthy enough to enjoy it… keep moving forward. Or just keep moving as this card can symbolize weight gains because you’ve overindulged in your good fortune! This is the ‘dream come true’ card so is one the the best cards in the deck to receive! It is the ‘Genie in the bottle’, but it does carry the added meaning to ‘be careful what you wish for because you just might get it!’ As an example, you wanted a fancy new car  and you are finally able to get a loan for it. Or you wish for the person you’ve had your eye on to come into your life as your new love interest and it finally happens…. Great! But, not so fast! You may get that new car, but find out later that you can’t afford the payments AND the gas to drive it. Or, you may get that person you’ve had your eye on as your new lover, but you didn’t count on the fact that they came with a spouse too! So choose your words carefully when formulating your wishes or prayers because it may turn out to be more than you bargained for in the end! But, with thoughtful wishes and prayers, you will be getting your dream come true!

CARD #2: CHALLENGE  : 7 of Earth: With the 7 of Earth as your challenge card, it can show that you have wished and waited for something or worked for something so long and hard with nothing to show for it, that you have finally just given up on it. This can put you in a fatalistic state of mind where you won’t recognize that it is FINALLY happening for you and your wish is actually coming true. All your hard work or waiting has paid off and your wish is finally coming true! There’s nothing left for you to do. The work is done or the time has finally come for the pay off! But with the wrong attitude, you might not recognize it when it shows up, or your negativity could actually chase off the very thing you had hoped for!

In SUMMARY: Even though it may have taken quite some time for your wish or desire to materialize, the time has come to receive. Now you must open your eyes and your heart in order to lift your spirits enough to recognize and accept the gift when it arrives. Be ready and expectant for it to happen for you so you don’t end up chasing it off or letting it pass you by! There’s nothing left for you to do but receive and say a big grateful “YES”!!! All that hard work, waiting and effort has finally paid off, so be open and ready to receive. Congratulations!!!

STRENGTH

Strength. Courage. Fortitude. Conviction. Energy. Determination. Resolution. Defiance. Action. Confidence. Innate ability. Zeal. Fervor. Matter over mind. Mind over matter. Accomplishment. Warrior for a cause. Calm control. Composure. Conquering ones instincts and fears.

This weeks Tarot Blog Post card is Strength. Since this week in the United States is the Thanksgiving Holiday and a time to spend with Family & Friends instead of working, I’m Re-Posting the main body of a previous Blog Post I wrote on this card a few months ago so that I too might enjoy the Holiday. I’m adding a thought for the Holiday madness of trying to get along with numerous Friends and Family in a usually too crowded space for the amount of people present.

When you feel like pulling your hair out, yelling profanities, or “telling it like it is” loud and clear at the top of your lungs in front of your guests; Look up and murmur under your breath… “Lord, give me STRENGTH!” Then while remembering this cards image: Take several deep breaths and slowly count to three. Calm down, compose yourself,  and KNOW with certainty, there’s nothing you can’t do… even this! Soldier on because you are a Warrior! You’ve got this!!! And have a blessed and peaceful week and /or Thanksgiving!                      

You may at first glance think this card brings the energy of fierceness, and although it does… it’s primary energy is that of compassion. “What!?” you might say. But yes, it’s about calming our fears and doubts, using compassion towards ourselves and others. Look at the card. She’s stroking a Lion! She’s calming down his instinctive nature with gentleness and compassionate. You don’t always have to be loud and fierce to be strong. Sometimes gentle strength and compassion speak louder than harsh words and bravito. When we come upon a scared animal we want to come closer to us, do we yell and growl at it? I think not. We gentle our voice and fill it with compassion. This is the energy this card is asking us to express this week. Do you have someone in your life that yells, growls and tries to to convince you how brave and fierce they are with their display of bluster?   Yet you know in your heart it is all coming from a place of pain, fear  and a lack of confidence? Yep… that is the energy of this card. It is asking you to be strong yet gentle with yourself and others you come in contact with whom may growl at you or react instinctively out of pain, fear or a lack of confidence. Don’t let all their bluster fool you. It’s all a big show. Know that their growl is worse than their bite. They are really just a pussy cat once you take the time and effort to tame them. When they growl at you, react with kindness and compassion. Be gentle and calm their (or your own)  fears.  On the flip side of this card, it may be that you have been too demur and now it is time to show your Lion or Lioness side. Step into your power with confidence and fierceness. Show the power of your convictions. Stop letting others make you play small or plant little seeds of doubt in your mind. Act with strength and determination. Don’t be a doormat any longer… show them what you’re made of! Stand up for yourself. Say “I’m here, I’m not going away. I’m here to stay!” I’m proud of my accomplishments and I plan to make my mark on the World. Know that anything worth attaining can be accomplished with will and determination. You want it? Then go get it! Acting like a shrinking Violet isn’t going to cut it! Step out and shine, baby!!! It’s time to fortify your sense of Self and step into the true you whom is strong, powerful, confident, competent and a force to be reckoned with! Own it! Be that Lion or Lioness you know is within you! Stand up and be counted!!!

PAGE of SWORDS

A mentally motivated youth. A youth who is wise beyond their years. A youth or youthful person with the Zodiac signs of Aquarius, Libra or Gemini. An older person with youthful ideas or who is a troublemaker or mentally immature. Someone who is always on the lookout for trouble. A spy or someone who watches others or acts sneaky. Vigilance. Written communications. A good communicator or speaker. One who is ‘always in their heads’. A rebellious youth or person. Secrets. Examinations with either positive or negative results. Perhaps a youth who is facing Final Exams or a person who is having/receiving a written evaluation.

This weeks card is the Page of Swords. The Pages all have youthful energy, and in the Suit of Swords, the energy is mental energy. Since he/she (from here on, he can denote either a ‘he or she’ person) is a Sword, this Page has to do with logic, fact finding, intellectual, thinking, and dealing with or watching out for problems, conflicts and anything dealing with mental activity. This Page is a messenger of communications… especially written communications. So you could could receive a message about a problem or situation that has been weighing heavily on your mind this week.

This Page of Swords can also indicate a young person who is always on the lookout for trouble, and if he can’t find any… he’ll create it just to make others react. He will create mountains out of mole hills or find problems or woes where none actually exist. He gets bored easily and and can become depressed, a troublemaker, restless and rebellious. You can feel like someone is spying on you , going through your things, or watching you, but this Page is sneaky… so you’ll have a hard time catching them in the act.

This Page can indicate a child who is intellectually mature for their age, but at times doesn’t put that great mind to the best uses… especially if they are bored or become nervous or restless because they feel a change is coming up in their life that will force them to put their intellect into use in a way that feels forced to them. I see this as the student that feels the impending ‘Final Exam or a big test’ hanging over them where they feel they have to preform at their very best mentally and are going to be judged. This can be an adult just as well as a youth who is facing some kind of an Exam or evaluation. This can make them nervous, depressed, irritable, sassy, restless and moody. Others may loose there patience with this persons attitude during this phase. The energy here is full of excitement or trepidation for the upcoming change, examination or results. This can translate into that restless, irritable and rebelliousness that I mentioned before, all the while they try and ‘play it cool’, which makes them seem aloof, as if they don’t care one way or the other. That in itself can be irritating or problematic to others who know how important this examination or communication really is for their future.

This energy can be showing up in an adult as well as a youth, so this could just as well be the feeling or situation you or someone you know is embodying. Or a person you will meet or interact with, or a child. Either way, it’s mental energy. It’s about communications, messages, logic, facts, the intellect. And Pages always suggest things that are beginning. So expect this person or these energies to enter your life in one way or the other this week.  The way to deal with this energy is to keep busy or keep the child busy. The Sword cards are about mental action and problems. Let’s all keep that mind occupied in a productive way so the mind doesn’t take matters into it’s own hands and ‘create’ problems where none exist or find something to worry about. If you actually do have a problem or concern developing in your life, remember; the Page of Swords tells you that it is just in the beginning stages. You can nip this in the bud quickly by keeping the lines of communication open. If you feel trouble brewing or know someone who seems to have the weight of the world on their shoulders…, don’t be afraid to lend an ear and urge them to talk about it. By talking about it out loud, things that seem insurmountable when they are tossing around in ones head, suddenly are put into perspective and are more easy to deal with and confront.

Tarot Blog Post #67 – Two of Pentacles – Nov. 11th – Nov. 18th

You could be entering a period of smooth sailing this week. The theme of this card is achieving or seeking balance and stability. Emotional/Physical/Financial balance and stability. Balancing work and play creates balance and stability in our working and home life. Balance in our finances creates balance and stability in our physical lives as well as our emotional lives. How often does worrying over finances cause stress and instability in not only our physical lives, but, also in our emotional lives? It is also about change.  Not only how to stay afloat during times of change, but also, how to enjoy ourselves while doing it.

When we draw this card, we may find that we are faced with a change of some kind. But instead of throwing us off balance… we find that if we just go with the flow instead of fighting the current; we can not only ride out the storm with little to no damage, but, we might even find the change refreshing and rejuvenating! To many of us, change can be scary. Making us feel overly emotional and out of control. Don’t fight it. Change can be just what we need when things get a little too predictable, tiresome or stale. Rather than reacting with a knee jerk reaction such as fear, instead, try to calm down and just go with the flow. Stop fighting the current. You will find life much easier to take and you just may surprise yourself. You may find how enjoyable riding the current can be rather than battling against it. Would you rather float down a lazy river on a hot summer day or wear yourself out trying to swim against the current? Life’s that way too. Really, really.

 This week you may be feeling a financial pinch and may need to create or stick to a budget. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t enjoy yourself or that you need to close the purse strings completely. This just means that you need to feel gratitude for what you have and in the process, perhaps find new ways to use the resources you already have at hand. It can mean creating and sticking to a budget. Spending less while enjoying yourself more. Try your hand at crafts or DIY projects rather than purchasing something ready made. Learn the fun art of re-purposing things you already have on hand. Go to Pintrest or like websites to create something new and beautiful out of things that were just laying around taking up space. Make some gifts by hand or draw/paint some handmade greeting cards. Fun and practical! Or perhaps instead of buying tickets to a movie and/or going out to dinner, you might dust off that old racket you had in school and head to the tennis court and volley a few sets. Grab the bike out of the back of the garage and take a ride. Put on your walking shoes and take a stroll around the neighborhood after dinner. Do something physical to get your body moving AND enjoy yourself for little to no cost! This is how we not only survive the ebbs and flows in our lives, but learn to actually enjoy them while creating a state of balance and stability. Go with the flow and you will find your life to be smooth sailing. Even when things get hard, use the resources, people and tools you already have in your own being and at your disposal to manage. You’ve got this!

Tarot Blog Post #65 – Initiation – Oct. 28th – Nov. 4th

Initiation

Initiation is most often called THE TOWER in more traditional Tarot decks. When we think of initiations, we often think of having to walk through fire or some type of unpleasantness before we are presented with the reward. This card means just that. It indicates a sudden, unexpected and oftentimes, initially unwelcome event change or happening. But, it can also be a moment of sudden inspiration or enlightenment. An “ah-ha” moment where everything suddenly becomes clear after a time of confusion or searching.

This card indicates things that come or happen ‘out of the blue’. “Didn’t see that coming”. “you could have knocked me over with a feather!” Or, “Oh, now I get it!” Sometimes the things that come with this card can be the catalyst for change that you needed but weren’t willing to do on your own so the universe did it for you. This is some sudden major and unexpected change, event, ending or seeming accident. It rocks your world and puts an end to something that you should have put an end to yourself, but you just felt you couldn’t for one reason or another. Your partner of 5 years suddenly ends your relationship when they admit they have been seeing someone else for 4 of those five years, leaving you open to meet your soulmate who has lived just 5 blocks from your house. Your car that has become a money pit is stolen and found totaled, but your insurance more than covers the cost so you can pay off the old one with money left over to buy a more reliable model. You are suddenly and unexpectedly let go from the job you hated but felt you had to take due to low finances, but now you are free to accept that job you really wanted that has become available but wasn’t at the time you needed work.These initially seem like disasters. But in reality, these catastrophic sudden happenings are blessings in disguise. Why? Because they put an end to whatever isn’t serving you anymore and make an opening in your life for what IS best for you when you can’t do it for yourself. 

Now, on the more positive note of this card! Sometimes surprises are good! You have run out of money and relief is nowhere in sight, then ‘out of the blue’… Wa-La!!! A penny from heaven just falls into your hand. You find a crumpled up $50 in the pocket of the jeans you just washed or you get an inheritance from a long lost relative you’ve never even met. You’ve been searching for love and it walks right in your door when you weren’t expecting it and had given up. You were looking for answers and they fell right into your lap! This is also the energy of this card. So even when all seems bleak and like there aren’t any answers or way out of a bad situation and life is against you,… don’t despair. Every cloud has a silver lining and your path forward is about to or has just been revealed. Good things are coming your way after a period of darkness and running into dead ends. Everything has a reason… even if you can’t or couldn’t see it just yet!

Achievement of plans, goals, and in business in the past. Planning the next step in achieving goals. Decisions need to be made to implement new ideas. Waiting for signs of success from decisions and actions taken towards a goal or plan. Can mean boredom with success already achieved.  Uncertainty of next step to take after achieving initial success towards ones plans. Help arrives towards making your plans or goals a reality. Partnerships forming in matters concerning your career and/or goals.

 It may appear to others that ‘you have the whole world in your hands.’ That you have had many successes and accomplishments in life and that you couldn’t possibly ask for more. You know this should be true and you are grateful for all you have, but in reality, you are feeling a sense of lackluster and possibly even boredom as you wonder if that’s all there is left for you. There must be something else to look forward to. Something yet to create. Some other mountain to climb or goal to accomplish to keep your life interesting and fulfilling, no matter what stage of life you find yourself in. 

This card, this week, is a good omen that there indeed is something more ‘out there’ for you. The spark that ignited  in you as you suspended action and waited for inspiration last week has paid off. After last week, where you ‘hung around’ waiting for enlightenment.  You may have ‘seen the light’, come up with a plan, or ignited a spark in you that has brought you out of your state of voluntary suspension. You may have discovered a new idea, plan or goal that has given you renewed passion for life and a new soul purpose.

Now that you have an idea, a plan, a mission, a project and the passion to do something about it… the 2 of Wands is telling you it’s time to take that idea and get to work on making it a reality. Push on by making decisions and taking action. Even if you don’t know exactly how to go about it just yet, just do something. Take a step. Create some action! You may have to step outside your comfort zone. Out and beyond what you’re comfortable or familiar with in order to make things happen. But rest assured. There is no right or wrong choice here. Just the desire and the call for action and forward movement. Even if you are feeling uncertain what to do next, do something. Make a decision that will move you one step closer to your goal. Also, take comfort in the knowledge that this is a ‘2’ card… a card of help arriving along the way and of partnership. Even if it’s not your usual way to ask for or accept help, swallow your pride and just say “Yes.” It’s part of the bigger plan for you from the universe and will get you where you want to go that much faster. Make a decision. Take action. Move forward. Make it happen!!!

Tarot Blog Post #63 – The Hanged Man – Oct. 14th – Oct. 21st

The Hanged Man

This weeks Tarot Blog Post card is The Hanged Man. It looks rather dreary and depressing at first glance. But on closer inspection, you’ll notice that the dark clouds and stormy skies are in the background. That there is now light piercing the darkness as if it is dispersing those dark clouds and stormy conditions that have been dogging you in the past. The Hanged Man is literally hanging around, waiting for things to get better. He or she has chosen to suspend all activities and stop struggling against the darkness. To just hang out in a state of suspended motion and wait for the storms in their life to pass. The Hanged Man has chosen to stay put and wait for enlightenment, a fresh perspective, new idea or state of being to shed some light on the problems and concerns they have been going through. Struggling against the darkness or storms surrounding them hasn’t helped, so now it’s time to take another approach. To just wait it out or await further instructions from the universe or source. It may seem like nothing is happening during this time of suspended motion and waiting, but on closer inspection, you will see that life, change and new growth is happening all around them even though they can’t see it. There is fresh green growth occurring all over the very post they are hanging on. Notice too that their leggings are Red, the color of Passion and their shirt is blue… the color of the intellect but also of spirit. They are waiting until their passion for life, and their intellect and spirit can merge into one creative life force. Also notice that the rope on their ankle is so loosely holding them that they can climb down whenever they feel ready. Also take notice of the halo of light encircling their head. This signifies that enlightenment has occurred and it is now safe to come back down to earth and get back to living life again. This card is telling you, if things have seemed dark, obscured and cloudy lately and struggling to break free has amounted to nothing; it may be time to take a break, surrender, suspend movement and struggling until you can ‘see the light’. Although it may appear nothing is happening and the conditions you find yourself in may be uncomfortable, they are clearing the way for the future growth you have hoped and prayed for. Everything in it’s proper season and time. All good things come to those who wait. So hang in there. Have faith that in time, when the stage of your life is properly set; the clouds will part… light will replace the darkness, a safe path will cleared and lit for you, and you will be shown The Way.
