Messenger of Earth

I hope you will take a minute of your time to click on the link or the ‘Learn More’ button so you can read the entire Blog Post. There are so many little gems to be gathered if you do! This week’s card for the Purple Swan Tarot Blog Post is the Messenger of Earth. In more traditional decks it is known as the Knight of Pentacles or the Knight of Coins and they are the workers on the physical plane. This card has to do with being a person who is focused on the task at hand and seeing that a job or task is completed… start to finish. Nothing left half done and nothing done half-haphazardly or in haste. This card is about being steadfast, strong and enduring in order to create conditions of stability in our lives and in the world in general. This can speak of giving or receiving aid whether financial or in another area of our physical lives. This card can also speak of travel, most often by land and is usually associated with work but can be for recreation or pleasure.

As a person; this person is very responsible, steadfast, focused, diligent, utilitarian and will go out of their way to be helpful. This is a person who will go the extra mile, always be ready and willing to lend a hand, someone who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty and will give you the shirt off their back. They don’t ‘show boat’ or need to be the center of attention or to be in the lime light. They don’t care about prestige and may seem plodding, dull or boring at times to others, but that is because they are so intent on getting their job done and done right. Once they complete their work, they are laid back, easy going and they can be a very sensuous and attentive lovers too. They love children, animals, the outdoors and Mother Earth. They aren’t afraid to spend their hard earned money or time on the ones they love because they care deeply about those they serve. This person is a gem in the rough and you can count yourself lucky to have this person in your life.

They will do whatever is needed to be of assistance. You can count on them, rely on them, even when the going gets tough. They will lend their comfort, their finances, and their time in order to do what’s right. They will make personal sacrifices, they will volunteer, they will be the first one to offer to help in any way they can. They have integrity and will persevere, even in the toughest of conditions and against all odds. These are the people on the front lines doing whatever needs to be done for the common good of all. The people seeing that the world keeps turning, that the gears are greased and who are seeing to others creature comforts and basic needs. The ones going out of their way for others. The Laborers, the Farmers, the Delivery and Mail people. The Truck drivers, the Store Clerks, those stocking the shelves, the Veterinarians, the Factory Workers, Bankers or Financial Advisors, Government Employees, the meal prepares and deliverers, those caring for our elderly, our children, our animals, our Earth. The Doctors, the Nurses, the Janitors, the Teachers, the Parents who’ve had to become Teachers, the Plumbers, The Electricians, Tech workers, and everyone of us who’s staying home, washing their hands, social distancing, sewing masks, wearing masks, working from home in order to do our part to end this blasted pandemic! EVERYONE who’s got a job to do and who is dedicated to seeing the task through for the good of all,… no matter what it takes or for how long.

The Messenger of Earth isn’t doing glamorous work, it may be tedious, laborious, repetitious, or even boring. They get down and dirty. They toil, they labor, they sweat, they clean, they dig, they plant, they care. They do whatever they need to do. No matter how long it takes, how hard or tough the conditions or the sacrifices that have to be made… they do it! And so will we. Each and every one of us will do what it takes to get the job done.

So, whatever the job may be; do the work. Do your job, don’t cut corners, do your best, give it your all. Be responsible. Do what’s practical. No matter how long, how hard, how uncomfortable… with integrity, kindness and compassion. We will persevere and we will get it done. That is the message of the Messenger of Earth. Whatever we need to do, let’s do whatever it takes to get it done!
